Our Mission:
Living in God's Grace we are called to apply the love of Christ to daily living. Therefore St. Paul's Congregation provides encouragement, training, and avenues for actions upon one's newness of life in the church, the home, and the community.
Our Confession:
As Lutheran Christians we understand the Scriptures to teach:
- We are saved by Grace alone. That God's love in the atoning sacrifice made by Christ is the only act that earned us salvation. No act required by mankind or any church will ever earn, not even partially, ones forgiveness before God.(Ephesians 2:8 & 9)
- Grace is applied to humans through faith alone. And even this faith is not of our own but a gift of God. Therefore we do not accept Christ through our own conviction but receive him through the power of the Spirit.(Ephesians 2:8 & 9; 1 Corinthians 12:3)
- All things are decided by Scripture alone. Scripture, being holy, inspired and inerrant in all its part are the only authority applied to matters of faith and teaching. Therefore if the bible says it, it is so. If the bible infers it, it is so. If scripture neither states or infers something it is left to the discretion of the individual Christian.
- We teach the real presence of Christ with his body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine of Holy Communion. We do not teach that the elements change into body and blood. neither do we teach that it is a mere representation of Christ designed to remind us. The word "communion / participation" in 1 Corinthians 10:16 clearly indicates the concept of "together with".
